Project Overview
This project was done along with our partners at Historic Building Restoration and included: new tile floors, new tile shower surround and tiled baseboards in the bathroom; a tile backsplash for the kitchen; and we even managed to work in 100 ft.² of new 2 ¼” red oak flooring for the kitchen.
Materials & Design Details
Material: Ceramic tile and hardwood flooring
Special Features: Period appropriate ceramic tile for the bathroom and our favorite backsplash ever!
Design Inspiration: Like much of our work, the tile in the bathroom and the hardwood flooring in the kitchen are meant to match or closely approximate what was original to a lovely little 1930s bungalow. We settled on the design for the backsplash by playing with different patterns with the tile on the countertop. We really love the final result
Challenges & Solutions
This was another project that came about due to a burst pipe. While much closer to home, the biggest challenge with this type of project is getting the client back into their home!
Final Outcome & Impact – his was a labor of love, truly. We needed to dig deep to get this client back in her house on a tight budget and timeline. After having her bathroom and kitchen (her favorite part of the house) destroyed by water, Historic Building and Restoration was able to bring the framing, plumbing and electric up to code and their improved kitchen layout and expert installation combined with our tile work made the client love her kitchen even more than before.
